Through community-led approach to development the Saharan coalition aim to stabilise the region and decrease the impact of previous shocks that region went through and supporting in preventing further shocks in the future, the activities of theme one mainly based on socio-economic interventions while observing conflict sensitivity of the projects.

Human Rights Protection

The region where Saharan coalition is active is characterised by intense destabilisation, in consequence, human rights violations prevailed. Therefore, the developmental challenges cannot be addressed while the human rights issues are neglected, therefore, the second theme will attempt to add an additional effort to existing efforts in addressing human rights issues in region.

Preserving Cultural heritage

Intangible cultural heritage in the Saharan cities is an important factor in maintaining cultural diversity in the face of growing globalization, an understanding of the intangible cultural heritage of different communities helps with intercultural dialogue and encourages mutual respect for other ways of life. The importance of Intangible cultural heritage is not the cultural manifestation itself but rather the wealth of knowledge and skills that is transmitted through it from one generation to the next. The social and economic value of this transmission of knowledge is relevant for minority groups and for mainstream social groups within a state. The coalition current activities including amongst others, research and documentation on traditional knowledge systems, recognized as part of communities’ living heritage.
